Originating from a post on a community Facebook page about Shipston’s lack of bookish and literary events, a group of local enthusiasts have come together to bring Shipston’s first book festival to life.
The Bookfest is organised by a small group of local volunteers, including representatives from the local Primary and High schools, the literary society, the Lions and the Rotary Club. In 2024, we are bringing the community a Bookfest for all. Bookended by two weekends of events, we hope our varied programme appeals to all ages and reading levels. We look forward to seeing you there!

Shipston-on-Stour is a traditional market town nestled in the north Cotswolds. The town is regularly named by the national press as one of the best places to live in the UK, thanks to its ‘warm community spirit and a thriving centre’. With a population of c.10,000 people, the town and surrounding villages are home to many thriving local community groups and events that provide a diverse social calendar. We hope to become an established part of this wonderful town and its social calendar!
