Truth is not only stranger than fiction; it is more interesting. William Randolph Hearst

Drawing on court papers, newspaper cuttings and other historical materials, Sue gives us a glimpse into the real lives, sad tales and infamous crimes of 19th century England, including the notorious murder of a Warwickshire policeman previously stationed in Shipston. Sue’s research and stories will be brought to life in collaboration with the Shipston Amateur Dramatics Society.

Sue Law PhD has written two books on English history. In Through the Keyhole, she revealed the true-life inspiration for Jane Austen’s Mr Darcy. Now she has published Dark Side of the Cut, revealing the true horror and villainy of life on Victorian canals.
